Georgia Southern to Host Town Hall Meeting on Racism

2-22 GS to host town hall meeting on racism妻友社区 will host 鈥淥pening Lines: Discussing Racism鈥 during an open forum on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Russell Union Theatre. The event, hosted and mediated by Nathan Palmer of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and Breyan Haizlip, Ph.D., a professor in the College of Education in the Department of聽Leadership, Technology & Human Development,聽is presented in conjunction with the Multicultural Student Center鈥檚 Courageous Conversations series.

鈥淎ttendees will have the chance to participate in a frank, honest conversation about racism and how it affects our students, our campus, our state and our country,鈥 explained Palmer. 鈥淓xpect a lively conversation that will be both intriguing and challenging. Using a town-hall forum structure, everyone will have a chance to have their voice heard and the opportunity to see the world from another鈥檚 perspective.鈥 The 2013 forum is the first of what Palmer anticipates to become an annual event. The forum is free and open to all Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff as well as the general public.
