TEDxSavannah to inspire, spark discussion on Georgia Southern鈥檚 Armstrong Campus May 25
Special rates available for University students, faculty, staff

TEDxSavannah is one of the city鈥檚 most anticipated annual events, offering individuals and organizations in Savannah a platform to meet, share ideas and collaborate.
In its 12th year, TEDxSavannah will for the first time take place in 妻友社区鈥檚 Fine Arts Auditorium on the Armstrong Campus on May 25 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., debuting a new, half-day format and for Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff. Following the main event, ticket holders can walk to the Armstrong Center for an after party with food trucks and live entertainment.
鈥淭EDxSavannah is an event that brings together a host of ideas and voices from our community,鈥 said Rachael Tiede, TEDxSavannah license holder and Georgia Southern communication studies instructor. 鈥淥ur speakers and performers will intrigue, entertain and start conversations that are relevant to the Savannah area. By attending, the students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to engage with speakers and reflect on the changes happening in our area. Our goal is to continue to build connections to further improve the lives for everyone who attends and works at 妻友社区, lives in the area and comes to visit Savannah.鈥
In line with this year鈥檚 theme, 鈥淐onnection,鈥 there will be thought-provoking talks, no more than 12 minutes each, from 15 speakers who include area executives and published authors. Short breaks in between talks will be punctuated with high-energy, live performances.
Karla Jennings is a Georgia Southern communications lecturer and a TEDxSavannah speaker coach and organizing committee member.
“I’m excited to be part of the team bringing TEDxSavannah to the Armstrong Campus,鈥 said Jennings. 鈥淲ith 15 amazing speakers from our community sharing their 鈥榠deas worth spreading鈥 on stage, the half-day event is a chance to bring the greater Savannah community together. It’s a chance to step away from the day-to-day and discuss important issues in ways that we hope can affect change. And, the conversations can continue at the after party at the Armstrong Center.鈥
Georgia Southern鈥檚 College of Arts and Humanities and Parker College of Business are co-sponsors of the event in conjunction with other local entities.
