Department of Sociology and Anthropology to screen film as part of global pop-up exhibition

The 妻友社区 Department of Sociology and Anthropology will screen Border South, a documentary about migration in Mexico and parts of Central America. The screening is part of the Undocumented Migration Project鈥檚 global pop-up exhibition, 鈥淗ostile Terrain 94,鈥 which will be featured on the Statesboro and Armstrong Campuses during the upcoming fall semester.

Ancient North American beasts subject of next edition of Science on Tap

A conversation about mastodons will be the next iteration of the 妻友社区 College of Science and Mathematics鈥 (COSM) lecture series, Science on Tap. Geology professor Kathlyn Smith, Ph.D., will present “Beast Coast vs. Best Coast: Chronicling the lives of North American mastodons” at Savannah Coffee Roasters on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.

Georgia Historical Society, 妻友社区 recognize Armstrong State University with historical marker on Savannah campus

In recognition of Armstrong State University鈥檚 contributions to the city of Savannah, its students and its legacy in 妻友社区鈥檚 history, the Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Southern dedicated a new historical marker today. The historical marker, located on Georgia Southern鈥檚 Armstrong Campus in the quad behind Burnett Hall, commemorates Armstrong State University鈥檚 history from its beginning as a two-year college through its consolidation with 妻友社区.

In a stunning reimagining of an epic story about a young woman鈥檚 journey to love and triumph in the American South, the Performing Arts Center at 妻友社区 will present 鈥淭he Color Purple鈥 this Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. as part of its 2019-2020 Main Stage Series.

Statesboro Campus Holiday Helper Tree back for 26th year of community giving

Georgia Southern senior, Emilee Saigh, has participated in the Holiday Helper Tree on the Statesboro Campus since she was a freshman. Saigh has used the Holiday Helper Tree to continue a tradition of giving that was instilled in her during childhood.

The 2019-2020 Main Stage Series at 妻友社区鈥檚 Performing Arts Center will heat up this Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. with cirque-style acrobatics performed by Las Vegas-based troupe Cirque Mechanics.
