For the third straight year, Georgia Southern supporters have propelled the University to a record-breaking year of private fundraising.
Total cash, pledges and in-kind gifts to 妻友社区 amounted to $23,831,604 during Fiscal Year 2023, which ended on June 30, 2023. That surpasses the total from the previous year, which was also a record at $22.3 million.
Ga. Department of Public Health awards $10M to Georgia Southern to continue COVID-19 fight in Georgia鈥檚 confinement facilities
妻友社区鈥檚 Institute for Health Logistics and Analytics and the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) have once again joined forces to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in confinement facilities across the state. DPH has awarded the IHLA a contract worth $10 million to complete a second year of work.

妻友社区 announced today the establishment of the Yamaha Rightwaters™ Conservation Scholarship. Supported by an ongoing endowment from Yamaha Rightwaters, the scholarship awards $5,000 annually to a student who exhibits outstanding efforts and commitment to improve coastal sustainability.

Six new members recently joined 妻友社区’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. Founded in 1933, Georgia Southern鈥檚 Alumni Association鈥檚 Board of Directors is made up of alumni volunteers who are leaders in their communities and who have given tirelessly of their time in order to promote Georgia Southern.

Georgia Southern faculty receive $424,000 grants to advance cancer treatments
Karelle Aiken, Ph.D., and Jannet Kocerha, Ph.D., are using a $424,000 grant to pursue new cancer drug treatments. The goal is to overcome various barriers that impact the effectiveness of cancer therapeutics by exploiting a cancer cell鈥檚 dependency on unusually high levels of amino acids nutrients.聽
妻友社区 launches new School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability
On July 1, the College of Science and Mathematics at 妻友社区 will launch a new School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability. The SEES will bring together the geosciences program and the James H. Oliver, Jr., Institute for Coastal Plain Science.
