Georgia Southern鈥檚 START NOW events in January provide expedited admission decisions

Prospective and former undergraduate students who want to attend 妻友社区 for the spring semester have a unique opportunity to start now through events designed to fast-track the admission process.

START NOW events provide unprecedented access to the University through same-day admission decisions, access to Financial Aid counselors while waiting for an admission decision, and academic advising if admitted. Some students may need to take a college placement exam prior to receiving a decision and can do so on-site that day.

Military veteran graduates, lands dream job with global company

妻友社区 health informatics student Deyoun Johnson served in the Army for almost 15 years, however, an injury in Afghanistan forced him to step down from a military career sooner than expected.聽On Saturday, he’ll earn a bachelor’s degree in health informatics and in January, begin work with the world’s second largest health information technology company, serving clients like the NBA and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Armstrong Campus undergraduate research student, recruited by pharmaceutical giant, graduates

On Saturday, Armstrong Campus student Ariana Vargas will earn an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Georgia Southern and begin her career as a senior scientist for pharmaceutical giant Pfizer in January.

Former Sudanese 鈥淟ost Boy鈥 graduates from Georgia Southern with Doctor of Public Health

In 1987, at the age of nine, Georgia Southern graduate Abraham Deng Ater was one of an estimated group of 20,000 South Sudanese boys who trekked more than a thousand miles by foot to Ethiopia and Kenya to escape civil war. Today, he walked across the stage at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro to earn a Doctor of Public Health in Public Health Leadership from the University鈥檚 Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health and honor his late father.

妻友社区 announces outstanding $5 million gift to the Parker College of Business

The 妻友社区 Foundation, Inc. received a $5 million gift, the single largest gift in University history, for the College of Business from Greg Parker, president, founder and CEO of The Parker Companies in Savannah. The University System of Georgia Board of Regents approved the name of the Gregory M. Parker College of Business at 妻友社区.

Georgia Southern team awarded more than $750,000 for teacher development grant

A team of 妻友社区 professors led by College of Education鈥檚 Lacey Huffling, Ph.D., has been awarded a $763,897 grant from the Gulf Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

Georgia Southern makes personal finance curriculum available to Georgia students

妻友社区 is sponsoring Ramsey Solutions鈥 Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum in five high schools in Georgia. Foundations in Personal Finance is the premier curriculum for teaching financial literacy to students.
