Georgia Southern biology lecturer Elizabeth Sargent, Ph.D., won the 2022 Student Impact Award from Top Hat, a digital platform for teachers and professors to connect with students online, distribute assignments and give in-class quizzes and exams.

National youth conference returns to in-person March 6-9

The 2022 National Youth Advocacy and Resilience Conference returns in-person to the Hyatt Regency Savannah after going virtual last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference, sponsored by 妻友社区鈥檚 College of Education, Georgia Youth Challenge Program and Youth Today, will be held March 6-9.

Georgia Southern awarded more than $500k to train literacy tutors for Chatham and Bulloch counties

妻友社区 has been awarded $517,575 to train elementary education literacy tutors who will work in select schools in Chatham and Bulloch counties.

妻友社区 joins major national study to examine potential impact of evidence-based teaching, mindset, and digital learning on students and faculty in 鈥淕ateway鈥 courses

妻友社区 is partnering with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), the leader in student success and equity through quality instruction, on a new national study made possible through a $1.5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Georgia Southern鈥檚 faculty will join more than 1,500 educators nationwide in a study to examine the relationship between evidence-based teaching practices, faculty mindset and student outcomes. In addition, up to 90 Georgia Southern faculty will have the opportunity to earn ACUE鈥檚 nationally recognized credential in effective teaching practices.聽Collectively, this will benefit more than 80,000 students.

Allie Griffis crowned Miss 妻友社区 2022

Eight 妻友社区 students participated, but only one could be named Miss 妻友社区. This year, that honor went to Allie Griffis who won the 74th rendition of the scholarship competition.
